Busy day today...

So it's almost midnight and I'm winding down from quite a busy day on my day off.  Got a lot of the many small things done in the kitchen which is a bit of a relief.  Also made a sample batch of cake pops for the school so they can get their table centerpieces mocked up for the upcoming Mother Son Banquet.

I'll be making all the desserts for the night to include French Vanilla and Chocolate Peanut Butter Turtle Pops and a variety of cookies and cupcakes too!  How do I get myself into all of this stuff?  It would be much better if my kitchen were done!  Can't wait for that!

I really can't believe that fall is here and before you know it the holidays.  This year will be a hard year, the first Thanksgiving and Christmas without Dad!  He really made the holidays special...especially Christmas.  I always enjoyed watching him interact with his "Sweetie Pie" and his "Super Boy" as they open their gifts.   As I was searching through photos, I ran across this one that Delaney drew and was buried with Dad.  Really do miss him so very much!

Just Me, Myself and I ... With Random Thoughts!

First of all I want to give a big shout out to Christopher Columbus for making such an impact on the country that we get a day off!

I'm sitting here at the Sunrise Breakfast Shoppe by myself eating breakfast. Very interesting to me as a person who grew up in Great Bridge as one of maybe four Filipinos in the community, that today in the heart of GB there is a thriving business owned and operated by Filipinos. It is the picture of a typical mom and pop diner with the normal breakfast and lunch specials with flairs of Filipino cuisine as well. The entire staff is Filipino and makes my heart smile to here them all interact in the midst of a packed restaurant of non-Filipino speaking customers.

The most comforting part is to remove the chatter and in the background you here Christian music playing in the background. For those of you who are not familiar with this community, there is only a small population of Filipinos that are Protestant believers. The majority of the population are practicing Catholics and the next is Muslim. Not only are the owners Christ followers but they are pillars in this geographical community.

I am one who takes great pride in my heritage and it brings great joy to see it thriving in this community, but more than that...thriving in The Lord!

Random thought I know...

It's Been How Long???

I know, I know...it's been forever and a day since I've posted anything to my blog!  Fifty lashes with a wet noodle I say!  So much has been going on and I really do need to make time to update this thing more frequently than I have in the past.  I do find it quite therapeutic to kind vomit all of your thoughts and life happenings in this kind of venue!  So what has been going on in the lives of the crazy Reyes Family?

Well we just recently got home from our Annual Corolla Family Vacation with the Balgavy, Komarnicki and Page families.  It is always nice to be able to get away for a long weekend with family and friends and since we go at the end of the season it is not too hot and not too crowded.

Minus Scott and the Page's

All we do is just hang out, go to the beach, eat, nap....repeat it over and over again throughout the day and not necessarily in that order.  This year Paul and I wore out Duck Donuts!  OMG, the Bacon Maple Glazed ones were the bomb!

Bacon Maple Glazed...YUMMO!

What?  They were buy 1 get 3 free at Harris Teeter!

It's always a fun time to have all the kids together...let's see there were how many this year??? Eight plus one in the oven...and there seems to always be one in the oven every year....hmmmm!

Let's see what else?  Oh...oh...oh!  The Nats win their division...it's off to the playoffs!  And then of course College Football season is in full swing!  Coach Kelly has definitely been working the Irish and it has definitely showed!

My kitchen renovation is in full swing...I will have a separate post for that one!  Too many rants and raves to jot it all down here, but nonetheless it's been fun!  On top of the kitchen renovation we decided to invest in a "swimming hole" for the kids in the back yard!  The interesting point though, is that since we got it close to the end of the season we never got to stick one foot in it before I closed it yesterday!  Oh well...it will be waiting for us next summer!

Great and awesome news for Lisa this year!  After one year teaching Kindergarten at Atlantic Shores Christian School, the Lord opened the door of opportunity for her to serve as the Assistant Principal there.  Interestingly enough, she said she would never ever go into administration.  Never say never is what I say!  She seems to be enjoying her new digs well...I personally think it suits her!

Delaney is now in Kindergarten at ASCS.  I cannot believe how fast it has gone for her - in the blink of an eye she will be graduating!

First day of school in her snazzy school uniform!

Now Cooper...what can I say about Cooper?  He is all boy and he is "ON" all the time!  Over this past year I have entertained my Facebook family with all of his antics and it seems he has quite a following! He really is a sweet boy (when he wants to be that is!)  Unlike his sister, he does not respond to discipline of any kind...so that has proved to be a challenge as we try and be consistent.  What can I say other than he is fearfully and wonderfully made by a perfect and holy God!  And boy does that same God have an enormous sense of humor!

Well, there certainly has been much more going on this past year, but at least this will kinda give y'all a glimpse of the crazy life of the Reyes clan!
